I attended an essential oils “ditch and switch” class last month and learned about this really cool free app called “think dirty”. You can scan items from their barcode in the store or do a search to find out how toxic they are and WHY. Oh my gosh!!! ?

I knew some products were bad and I’ve never been able to use cleaning products because it would give me MAJOR headaches and breathing problems. Over the years I’ve been super sensitive to smells of perfumes and lotions, products making my skin break out, etc. so over the years I’ve tried to use less and less products on my skin and home.

Because my six-year-old has allergies to artificial colors and preservatives, I have been very strict for years about our foods and drinks that we keep in the house. I also noticed over the years that we can’t use products with him like lotions, chapsticks, and shampoos that have artificial colors.

I haven’t been wanting to take the plunge and change household products and cleaners because I knew it would be expensive and honestly just wanted to ignore the facts.

But after going to this class last month and discovering that I could make a lot of products myself at home with essential oils, as well as use this app as a great tool to find replacement products at common stores like Walmart and target — I knew I needed to make the change!
Right now our family goal is to use cleaners and beauty products that are rated 6 and below. The only products that we were currently using that are OK to keep was our dove sensitive bar soap and my sons shampoo and body wash. ??

So I took the plunge and got rid of all of my deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, styling products and lotions.

We are slowly replacing our items with better products like these pictured. Im happy that my husband is really on board with this and that we are working together to make our home healthier and less toxic.

My husband was wanting to do it for quite a while and I just needed to be in a good place mentally before I took the plunge, if that makes sense.
Definitely check out this free app if you’re interested in using better, natural products for your family!!

What are some natural products that you like using? I’m looking for some great brands to try!

The picture above is a demo on how the app works and what info it shows after you scan an item. Those are some of the products that I’ve been trying this month that rate a 6 or below.
