I’m a little late with posting my link up post with these ladies, but I really liked the question so here goes…

Todays Topic: What would your imaginary trainer say to motivate you?
I am currently studying to be a Certified Personal Trainer through NCCPT, so this is a great question for me to think about for myself and also how I can help others.

Here are some quotes that I found online that I really liked.

This year I am going to personally focus on “self love”-loving my body and appreciating all the things I CAN do, not on the things I can’t do. It’s not fun to stress your body out trying new diets, trying extreme workouts and then not being able to move for days, hating how your body looks in the mirror… Can you relate?

I would want my trainer to help me stay positive and celebrate the little achievements like logging my food that day, or drinking all my cups of water, or completing my workouts that week. I think alot of people struggle with staying positive and motivated and consistent. Exercising and eating healthy should be a lifestyle change, not a temporary quick fix kind of thing. Exercising and eating healthy should make you happy and something that you enjoy. If low impact or fitness walking is your thing-I say do that! Don’t run races or do cross fit just because everyone is doing it. Do something that you will enjoy and stick with, regardless of immediate results. Love your body and be grateful every day for the things that you are able to do!

What helps you stay motivated with sticking with your fitness and eating routines? Online groups? Blogs? Social media?

All of those things help me. That’s actually how I got started with my blogging. I started taking pictures and trying new workouts and food plans when I started losing weight in 2011. I tried to jump full force into running and then a bootcamp and it nearly killed me. Seriously-I was 250 pounds and was not active at all and thought I could just do whatever I put my mind to. The reality is that when you are very overweight or obese, not all exercises are okay for our body and joints even when you try to modify them. It’s important to try new things and challenge your body, but not to the extent of injury or pain. I started out doing 10-15 minutes of indoor slow fitness walking and just continued to do that consistently until I progressed to longer and harder workouts.

It’s important to surround yourself with positive friends and trainers who will help you, and listen to you, and figure out what’s good for you and your body. Nourish your body with good food. Nourish your mind with good books. Make specific goals so you can work towards them and achieve them.

  1. Great, great post. So glad you linked up. I love your self-love perspective. It’s encouraging, refreshing and inspiring. And, I needed to hear it. ‘I love my body,’ might be a new mantra of mine. Thanks so much! #fitfamlove
