Into the Fire (Undaunted Courage #1) by Irene Hannon

Into the Fire (Undaunted Courage #1) by Irene Hannon

MY REVIEW
I love reading books by this author so I was really excited to start this brand new Undaunted Courage series! The prologue immediately started out with the killers point of view and describing their actions, which was very disturbing for me to start a book right away like that. I honestly wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep reading. Thankfully the killers POV wasn’t included much throughout the book since the main characters were arson investigator Bri and Special Agent Marc. I liked getting to know them both and their families. Bri and Marc both had traumatic childhoods but were able to become successful adults with good careers who helped others. I liked reading how they helped each other grow and overcome their demons.

This story had lots of twists and turns, clean romance, drama and lots of suspense! Other characters were mentioned like Bri’s brother and sister who I am hoping will get their own story. Like I mentioned, the start of the book really bothered me though, so I’m not sure if I will continue reading more from this new series or not.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions and views expressed are my own.

More from Dana

What a challenge to write the eighth book in this fabulous Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series! Writing a continuity (linked books with an overarching mystery) with seven other authors requires us to work closely together which is a rare blessing in this solitary business. There were so many good conversations, emails and texts that went into the construction of this series. Since wilderness escape novels are my favorite, it was great fun to write Tanner, Mara and Boxer Britta’s dramatic survival story. I hope you enjoy the book and the entire series as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you!

MY REVIEW

I have been loving this series in Three Springs Texas and getting caught up with the Sloan brothers with each book. Although each book can be read as a stand alone story, I love reading them in order to get more out of the character development and relationships.

I really enjoyed this fun, heartwarming, holiday story with Josh and Vivian. They worked well together with preparing for the gala and rodeo together, despite the challenges with working with extended family members and exs.

This book and any of the Three Springs Texas stories will bring a smile to your face as you read from cover to cover. My preteen enjoyed reading it as well!

Shadows at Dusk (Missing in Alaska Book #2) by Elizabeth Goddard

Shadows at Dusk (Missing in Alaska Book #2) by Elizabeth Goddard

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Montana Detective Trevor West is desperate to learn what happened to his sister, who went missing in Alaska over a year ago, leaving nothing but a few photographs as clues to her whereabouts. At the advice of Police Chief Autumn Long, Trevor enlists the help of an experienced bush pilot. If Carrie James can’t help him find the places in the photographs, no one can.

But Carrie has her own agenda. Grieving the death of her closest friend and the only person she could trust, Carrie will help Trevor find his sister on one condition–that he help her track down her friend’s killer.

As the two close in on the answers they crave, they’ll face dangers and connections they could not have imagined. They’ll have to learn to trust one another–and face the dark secrets of the past–if they are ever to discover the truth and bring a killer to justice.

My Review

This holiday suspense grabbed by attention from page 1 and kept me intrigued until the very end. Lots of suspense and drama unfolds as Cassidy and Kyle piece together connections from old police cases while running from a killer. Are the cases connected? Why is someone targeting Cassidy? Does it have to do with the death of her cousin or completely unrelated?

I really enjoyed this clean suspense and I read it from cover to cover in one day. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next! Highly recommend!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions and views expressed are my own.

About the Author

Award-winning, bestselling author Sami Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn’t until her 30’s that she found authors that captured her attention. Now, most evenings, you can find her engrossed in a Romantic Suspense. In her opinion, a crime and a little romance is the recipe for a great story.

She lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.

More from Sami

While coming up with the idea for Kyle and Cassidy’s story, Killer Christmas Evidence, I loved the idea of a serial killer that no one knew about. Someone who killed in different places and in different ways to avoid detection. Kim Rossmo’s theory on Geographic Profiling was intriguing, and I wanted to implement that concept. But, as I started to write, I realized the idea was too big for a Love Inspired Suspense length book, so I had to adjust the story a bit to fit the situation. The basics are there, just not the details I had hoped for.

However, when I sat down to write and I got to know Kyle and Cassidy a little better, I realized the story wasn’t about the stealth serial killer, but about learning to let go of guilt and learning to forgive. How many times in our lives due to being hurt or the pain of loss do we assume we know the truth? Yet, if we listened—really listened—we discover not everything is what is appears to be. And the truth is not painful, but healing.
