But when she finds out who it is who has accepted the job to take her to Boston, she almost rethinks her own hurried plan. For the handsome man who comes to her aid is none other than Ethan Barrik–her former fiance. He left her heart in shambles six years before. Can she trust him a second time?

Ethan Barrik is no stranger to struggle. But tracking the enemy, and war-time spying is nothing to the pain of regret he has endured. Ready at least to leave everything behind, he accepts one last job for a friend, only the discover the person he’s really helping is Clara Moore–the woman he still loves. Despite her ire, he knows he must make every attempt to make it right–and hope she will find a way to forgive him and give their love another chance.

Sky Above Us (Sunrise at Normandy) by Sarah Sundin REVIEW #SkyAboveUs

Sky Above Us (Sunrise at Normandy) by Sarah Sundin
This author likes to write alot of books in this historical time period of WWI and WWII. I have read several books by her and some of them I like more than others depending on how much historical facts versus story plot there is.

I liked that this story included some historical facts during DDay and Normandy but not enough to be boring or put me off to the rest of the book. I liked the main characters Adler and Violet as they struggle to find their purpose in life and ways to help during the war. They both have personal struggles and I like how we get to read how they both mature in their faith, especially Adler.

I loved how caring Violet was with her crew, the officers, and English community. It was a big struggle in the early 40s for women to help out and be respected during the war-and not just seen as pieces of entertainment.

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for book number 3 of this series to come out so I can read more about the 3 brothers.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
Numbed by grief and harboring shameful secrets, Lt. Adler Paxton ships to England with the US 357th Fighter Group in 1943. Determined to become an ace pilot, Adler battles the German Luftwaffe in treacherous dogfights in the skies over France as the Allies struggle for control of the air before the D-day invasion.

Violet Lindstrom wanted to be a missionary, but for now she serves in the American Red Cross, where she arranges entertainment for the men of the 357th in the Aeroclub on base and sets up programs for local children. Drawn to the mysterious Adler, she enlists his help with her work and urges him to reconnect with his family after a long estrangement.

Despite himself, Adler finds his defenses crumbling when it comes to Violet. But D-day draws near. And secrets can’t stay buried forever.

Bestselling author Sarah Sundin returns readers to the shores of Normandy, this time in the air, as the second Paxton brother prepares to face the past–and the most fearsome battle of his life.

#MendingFences by Suzanne Woods Fisher REVIEW #DeaconsFamily

Mending Fences (The Deacon’s Family) by Suzanne Woods Fisher

It took me several chapters to get into this book because of the main character Luke. He is in his early 20 yrs and is stubborn, arrogant, rude, and seemingly unrepentant. It takes Luke most of the book to truly repent and apologize to all the local townspeople who he offended and hurt along the way while he was in his early youth. Most of the wrongdoings and apologizes were sincere and realistic but some were a little ridiculous. (meaning I felt he apologized for offenses that didn’t even need to be brought up again years later that were so minor that people didn’t remember them) Most of the book was spent with Luke helping out others and learning how his actions affected those around him. It was very eye opening to read both sides of the story.

Overall it was a good story and once I got into the flow of the book and characters, I enjoyed reading it. This is the start of the “The Deacons Family” series so I can’t wait to read more about Luke, Izzy, Jenny, Fern, Amos and the rest of the town.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
Every saint has a past. Every sinner has a future.

Luke Schrock is a new and improved man after a stint in rehab, though everyone in Stoney Ridge only remembers the old Luke. They might have forgiven him, but nobody trusts him.

Amos and Fern Lapp allow Luke to live at Windmill Farm under two conditions. First, Luke must make a sincere apology to each person he’s hurt–a four-page, single-spaced list. Second, he must ask each victim of mischief to describe the damage he caused.

Simple, Luke thinks. Offering apologies is easy. But discovering the lasting effects his careless actions have caused . . . that isn’t so simple. It’s gut-wrenching.

And his list keeps growing. Izzy Miller, beautiful and frustratingly aloof, also boards at Windmill Farm. Luke’s clumsy efforts to befriend Izzy only insult and annoy her. Eager to impress, Luke sets out to prove himself to her by locating her mother. When he does, her identity sends shock waves through Stoney Ridge.

His Honor, Her Family (Meet Me at the Altar #2) By Tara Randell *review & giveaway*

MY REVIEW:
I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet romance by author Tara Randell! I loved the small town setting of Golden Georgia and all the adventures (and complications!) Grace has with running her moms’s travel and adventure business. I liked the main characters Deke and Grace as they work together with the business, and to help their individual families with their problems. They both had great personalities and worked well together.

Sweet clean romance, sure to make you smile! I can’t wait to read more from this series! I haven’t read book 1 so I feel these books can be read as stand alone novels.
