Abducted in Alaska by Darlene L. Turner

Abducted in Alaska (Love Inspired Suspense) by Darlene L. Turner

Things heat up really fast in this story! I read this book in one night because the drama and situations were non stop and intense and I couldn’t take a break from reading or something bad would happen. 😉

From the very beginning of chapter 1 there were shootings, explosions, running away, rescuing kids, finding a possible mole… so much suspense and action. Unpredictable story line and great strong characters. I never would have guessed the ending or the reasons why. I had a suspicion but I didn’t think I was right.

I really liked Hannah and Layke and how they worked together and how they protected each other. It was devastating to read about the child kidnappings and Layke’s growing up; and how kids can be neglected, unloved and abused. I’m glad those parts were not specific or graphic.

Great Christian story with a little bit of clean romance, no graphic violence.

MY REVIEW

I have read several cowboy books by this author and I always enjoy them!

Mick is determined to help care and provide a loving home for his niece Sadie after the death of her parents-his sister. His friend Christa also steps in to help him care for the 5 year old when he discovers its hard running a ranch and taking care of a child as a single father. I loved how well the three of them worked together and settled into a good routine and friendship.

I liked reading about their ranch life and how hard Christa worked on a daily basis to help her friends and keep her hardware shop alive.

Great characters, small town, clean romance, sweet cowboy… what more could you want in a book? Absolutely loved it!

I am officially signed up for the Blue Ridge Marathon race series-10k walk up Mill Mountain on Saturday April 17th in Roanoke VA.

This is will be 5th year participating in this race series. The first year I did the half marathon and the other years I have done the 10k. I was even fortunate to do it last year in 2020 as a virtual race.

They have LOTS of distance options, including VIRTUAL options again this year!

The full, half and 10k all prove equally challenging yet rewarding on this mountainous course, and all runners are rewarded with a unique finishers’ medals, a tech-tee, live music and local craft beer at the festival-like finish in downtown Roanoke. This race would not be possible without the support of our title sponsor, Foot Levelers.

“The Christmas Promise” by Janice Carter

“The Christmas Promise” (Harlequin Heartwarming) by Janice Carter

I was hoping for a more lighthearted fun holiday story which is what I can typically expect from Harlequin Heartwarming stories. I read from beginning to end hoping the story line would get better. Overall it was OK but not something I would want to read again.

The entire book was spent rehashing an accident that happened almost 20 years ago and how Ella felt wronged by the town and that she expected apologies from her old friends Ben and Grace when she went eventually went back to visit. As we read further into the story we find out more of what happened during that tragic night many years ago. I just wish that the story and characters revolved around other things and not just about a tragedy that took place so long ago.

It’s unfortunate that although it was an awful thing that happened, it seemed that several people were not able to find closure, forgiveness, or peace to move on with their life. Which is not a very good way to live in my opinion.

The last couple chapters were better and more in the Christmas spirit. If you have read other books by this author, you may enjoy this story.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
The Christmas season…
Is perfect for new beginnings

After a tragedy seventeen years ago, author Ella Jacobs never wanted to come back to Lighthouse Cove. Not to the whispered rumors, the judgment or even to Ben Winters, the boy she loved. Now she’s returned in time for Christmas—and some much-needed closure. But old flames burn bright. Can Ella find her way back to Ben…or will the secrets of their past extinguish their love for good?

About the Author
Writing has been a passion for Janice Carter from a young age but her ‘second’ career after teaching didn’t officially start until she took a romance writing course at a local community college. The story she began then became her debut novel, a Harlequin Intrigue. Janice says she’s been very lucky to do what she enjoys most–writing about the connections between people and their families; in other words, how we find love and romance.

“Unknown Threat” (Defend and Protect) by Lynn H. Blackburn

“Unknown Threat” (Defend and Protect) by Lynn H. Blackburn

This story was unpredictable and riveting from beginning to end. I always enjoy the start to a new series and getting to know main characters and their side stories. I can’t wait to read more in this series!

I have read most of Lynn Blackburn’s books and this one was just as amazing! I really liked Luke and Faith and their job professionalism, friendship, and later chemistry. They both worked extremely hard to keep their co-workers and teammates alive all while actively trying to find answers. They both have past grief to work thru, but with the help of others and their faith; they both begin to heal and look forward to the future.

I truly can’t say enough good things about this story and team! Secret Service, FBI, bombings, burnings… oh my! This clean Christian fiction story had a good steady pace filled with drama and suspense, interesting and relatable characters. I found myself holding my breath wondering what was going to happen next.

I really enjoyed it and I will definitely be reading this book again! I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
Secret Service Special Agent Luke Powell is lucky to be alive. Three of his fellow agents have died in unusual circumstances in the past ten weeks. Luke is devastated by the loss of his friends and colleagues, and his inability to locate the killer feels like a personal failure. He’s an expert at shielding others, but now the protectors are in need of protection.

FBI Special Agent Faith Malone is driven to succeed and confident in her ability to solve every case she’s assigned. She’s been put in charge of the investigation into the unprecedented attacks, and with Luke’s life in danger, the stakes have never been higher. But it’s hard to know how to fight back when you don’t know who the enemy is.

As more agents are targeted, Luke and Faith will have to work together to bring a killer to justice and prevent any more names from joining their fallen brothers and sisters on the Secret Service Wall of Honor.
