“The Crushing Depths” (Coastal Guardians Book #2) by Dani Pettrey

“Crushing Depths” by Dani Pettrey

WOW! This story was just as good, if not better than the first book in this series. I haven’t read any books involving the Coast Guard since it’s been fun to get to know the characters and their jobs.

Clean romance and suspense with lots of drama in this fast paced story. Rissi and Mason were great characters and worked really well together, especially because of their past. I also liked reading the side stores involving the other team members.

This is a book that I will be keeping to read again. It was a definite page turner, don’t stop until you’re done reading! Highly recommend this Christian fiction book and series.

About the Book:
When an accident claims the life of an oil-rig worker on the first drilling platform off the North Carolina coast, Coast Guard investigators Rissi Dawson and Mason Rogers are sent to take the case. Tensions surrounding the oil rig are high and the death has everyone on edge. Environmental activists are threatening to do whatever it takes to stop the structure from being completed, while rumors are being whispered about ancient curses surrounding this part of the ocean.

Mounting evidence shows the death may not have been an accident at all. Was he killed by one of the activists or, perhaps more frighteningly, a member of his own crew? Rissi and Mason have to sort through not only a plethora of suspects, but also their own past and attraction to each other.

Just as the case seems like it’ll break open, worse news arrives. A tropical storm has turned their way and soon they’re cut off from any rescue–and right where the killer wants them. It’s a race to discover his identity before he eliminates the threat they pose.

“Relative Silence” by Carrie Stuart Parks

Emotional and riveting from beginning to end! This story kept me glued and engaged chapter after chapter as I got to know Piper and her family. Throughout the story we read about all the Boone family tragedies as Tucker and Piper try to piece clues together about the recent shooting and who was targeted.

Lots of suspense, complicated characters and surprise ending that I didn’t expect. I enjoyed reading this fast paced, clean suspense story that spanned over a period of 15 years.

“Don’t Keep Silent” (Uncommon Justice) by Elizabeth Goddard

So many twists and turns with lots of suspense and action. I absolutely loved this riveting, romantic suspense book! Clean christian book but does have elements of murder, kidnapping and human trafficking-nothing graphic.

Another great book to the “Uncommon Justice” series! I highly recommend this book and this series. Once you start reading, you won’t want to stop!

“These Nameless Things” by Shawn Smucker

“These Nameless Things” by Shawn Smucker

I haven’t read anything by this author but the book description sounded intriguing so I decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately, this story wasn’t for me. I was very confused right from the start with the characters and where they were and what they were doing. I continued to read but I remained confused and it didn’t keep my attention so I didn’t end up finishing it. To me the story almost seemed classified as a “fantasy” novel which I don’t like to read which is probably why I had a hard time finishing it. It has great reviews but it wasn’t for me.

MY REVIEW

This was a very sweet, heartwarming story! I read it in one night because it was easy reading with great characters and intriguing story line.

Charlie was a great character-strong, patient, full of love, willing to fight to protect a child who was practically a stranger. I liked reading about her journey with becoming a foster parent, which obviously had joys and struggles, especially when Uncle Ryker comes to town.

Faith based story which included elements of neglect, abuse, foster care, addictions-all very real struggles people face today. The story and characters were realistic and relatable which drew me in and kept my interest. I liked reading how the horses helped Honor open up and start healing. I know animals can be a great healing tool and therapy for others!

I really enjoyed reading this sweet story and highly recommend. I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
