Be Happy-Simple Secrets to a Happier Life by Hank Smith
I read alot of self help, marriage, and family books and this book is one of my favorites. It is written by Christian LDS author Hank Smith who has his PhD an teaches at BYU.
I read this book cover to cover within a couple of hours because I felt very inspired and hopeful after reading this book. It was very easy to read and had lots of practical advice. Sometimes it’s really hard to be happy and to stay positive day after day, but Hank Smith offers things we could do to help train our brain to be more positive and react with mindfulness and patience.
The author offers 10 simple tricks to jump start joy (intentional happiness) each day and he suggests that the reader start with working on one thing at a time and master it before moving on. Tricks like “Listen to Uplifting Music”, “Exercise and Eat a Healthy Diet”, “Get Enough Sleep”, etc.
There are chapters on the science of happiness (which is very interesting), what the scriptures say about happiness, learning to accentuate the positive, patience, contention, mindfulness, depression and change.
I really liked this book and will be sharing it with others. I also liked the author’s suggestion about a gratitude journal and a patience journal.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
