Always Look Twice (Uncommon Justice Book #2) by Elizabeth Goddard

Always Look Twice (Uncommon Justice Book #2) by Elizabeth Goddard

Another riveting romance suspense novel by author Elizabeth Goddard that I couldn’t put down! Amazing characters, steady suspenseful plot which kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

I liked reading about Harper’s love for taking pictures (especially in chapter 1 as she’s taking pictures in the wild) and how it has helped her cope with life’s struggles and experiences. I also liked Health’s strong character and his willingness to help and protect others.

Action packed, clean romance story with elements of faith and letting go of the past. HIGHLY recommend this book and this series! I LOVED it!

About the Book:
At the advice of her therapist, homicide survivor Harper Reynolds has traded her job as a crime scene photographer for a more peaceful life taking photographs of the natural world. But her hopes for a life surrounded by the serenity of the outdoors are dashed when she inadvertently captures a murder being committed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She flees the scene in fear–and loses the camera.

Former Green Beret Heath McKade is a reserve deputy in an understaffed county who has been called in to protect Harper, a childhood friend he is surprised to see back in the area. When Harper learns that the sheriff’s department can’t find any evidence of the murder she witnessed, she is determined to do what she can to see that justice is done. What neither Harper nor Heath could know is how many explosive secrets from the past will be exposed–or how deeply they will fall for each other.

In this suspenseful page-turner, bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard keeps you on the edge of your seat as you discover that uncommon justice lies just on the other side of fear.

“Stitches in Time” by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Stitches in Time (The Deacon’s Family Book #2) by Suzanne Woods Fisher

I have read other Amish fiction books by this author so I was familiar with some of the characters mentioned in previous books and series. The author also included a listing of characters in the beginning of the book which was helpful if you’re read her other books.

The Deacon’s Family Book #2 focuses mostly on Luke and Izzy, Molly, and Sam’s stories. Lots of great mini stories throughout including fostering, becoming an Amish Deacon, raising sheep, medical issues, marriage… lots of laughs, tears, frustrating moments, and various emotions. God’s love, faith, forgiveness and trust were all important elements in this book.

I really enjoy this story and characters and can’t wait to read more from this series!

About the Book:
Detachment had worked well as a life strategy for horse trainer Sam Schrock. Until he met Mollie Graber . . .

New to Stoney Ridge, schoolteacher Mollie has come to town for a fresh start. Aware of how fleeting and fragile life is, she wants to live it boldly and bravely. When Luke Schrock, new to his role as deacon, asks the church to take in foster girls from a group home, she’s the first to raise her hand. The power of love, she believes, can pick up the dropped stitches in a child’s heart and knit them back together.

Mollie envisions sleepovers and pillow fights. What the 11-year-old twins bring to her home is anything but. Visits from the sheriff at midnight. Phone calls from the school truancy officer. And then the most humiliating moment of all: the girls accuse Mollie of drug addiction.

There’s only one thing that breaks through the girls’ hard shell–an interest in horses. Reluctantly and skeptically, Sam Schrock gets drawn into Mollie’s chaotic life. What he didn’t expect was for love to knit together the dropped stitches in his own heart . . . just in time.

Suzanne Woods Fisher invites you back to the little Amish church of Stoney Ridge for a touching story of the power of love.

Keeping Her Close (A Pacific Cove Romance) by Carol Ross

This story follows Kyle as Harper’s bodyguard who also happens to be his best friends fiancee. Kyle is very serious about this job and attention to detail and I really liked his character. I liked Kyle’s and Harper’s banter and friendship back and forth. Easy to read, interesting plot and great characters. Elements of trust, forgiveness and love through out this sweet clean romance story. I really liked it!

About the Author
Carol Ross lives with her husband and two dogs (a perfect border collie and a perfectly loveable miscreant of a dachshund) in a small town in Washington near both the ocean and the mountains. She loves the Northwest because, when the temperamental weather cooperates, she enjoys hiking, running, skiing, and spending time outdoors. And when it doesn’t…she dons a raincoat, or gets lost in a book. She enjoys reading in many genres but writes about what she loves the most-romance.

“A Candle in the Window” dvd

Beautiful, short (35 mins) holiday family movie which brought me to tears.

All 3 girls handle the death of their mother differently, especially the middle child Catherine. I loved the youngest girl-Emily’s prayers and simple faith that her mother was still around to help her and love her even though she couldn’t see her.

Simple but powerful message about prayer, faith and love. Our family really enjoyed this dvd!

John’s family is struggling to face Christmas without his loving wife. However, six-year-old Emily is full of faith. Even though her older sisters try to gently lower her expectations, the young girl truly believes her mother will visit on Christmas Eve. In fact, she is so certain her mother will come that she puts a candle in the window to guide her mother on her journey home. Before she passed away, their mother made sure the most cherished holiday traditions would still be there—beautiful handmade dresses, new patent-leather shoes, and a lovingly crafted doll for little Emily. But on the way to a Christmas Eve celebration, the doll is lost, and Emily is heartbroken. Emily—and her grieving sisters—need their mother more than ever. Inspired by true events, A Candle in the Window is a beautiful reminder that our loved ones never leave us and prayers really do get answered—especially when you have the faith of a child.
