“For Sale By Owner” by Marlene Bateman *book review and giveaway*

McKenzie returns to her childhood home with her daughter after a painful divorce. Her plan is to purchase her brothers home-the home she grew up in-as a Christmas present to herself. Her plans change however when she learns that it most recently sold to the cute guy Jared who caught her eye at her nephews play.

This story was a cute and clean romance-mostly about love and forgiveness. I didn’t particularly care for the main character McKenzie and how she acted, so it made it hard to really enjoy this book.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book
McKenzie Forsberg is headed home. She’s quit her big-city job to return to her roots in the small town of Lake Forest. Kenzi hopes to buy her childhood home from her brother, Tom, as a way of revisiting the peace and security she’s been missing in her life. But soon she is shocked to discover that the house has a pending sale, and Tom won’t budge from the sale—not even for his sister.
Handsome widower Jared Rawlins catches Kenzie’s eye until she realizes that he’s the one who is buying her house—but he can only close the deal if he sells his own house by Christmas Eve. Jared is more than a little interested in Kenzie but has second thoughts when it seems that she may be sabotaging the sale of his home.

Slippery feelings of animosity and distrust ensue, with both Jared and Kenzie denying the chemistry between them. But then an unexpected discovery about their connected past puts a new twist in the dynamic. Now, can they put their differences aside and come to terms on a relationship that could last forever?

Cali Sinclair works on the Florida coast at her family’s resort called Windswept Bay. She is caring but serious ever since she went thru an emotionally damaging divorce.

Grant is a successful painter but he can’t seem to get past his survivor guilt from his plane crash. His friend Cam, Cali’s brother, asks Grant to visit his family’s resort and paint some murals for them.

Cali and Grant are immediately attracted to each other but both have some serious emotional troubles hindering them from moving forward in a serious relationship. The longer that Grant stays in Florida and paints for Cali, the more he wants her to love him and trust him.

Twilight at Blueberry Barrens (A Sunset Cove Novel) by Colleen Coble is book 3 in the Sunset Cove Series. I really enjoyed the other 2 books in this series and this story was just as good!! “Twilight at Blueberry Barrens”is a good, clean, suspenseful romance! This was a book I couldn’t put down reading until I was finished.

I love how Colleen Coble books are a good steady pace, keeping me guessing with what is going to happen next, and loving the characters and relating to them. She is a very gifted author and I can’t wait to read more! Although this is the last book in the Sunset Cove series, I can’t wait to read other books by this author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review on my blog and social media-all opinions are my own.

Book Description
“I need you to keep these girls safe . . .”

Kate Mason has devoted herself to caring for her family’s blueberry barrens. But after her fields stop producing fruit, she’s forced to come up with alternative ways to make a living.

Renting out the small cottage on her property seems an obvious choice, but it won’t be enough. When entrepreneur Drake Newham shows up looking not only for a place to rent but also for a nanny for his two nieces, it’s almost too good to be true. And maybe it is—because Drake brings with him dangerous questions about who might be out to kill his family. The more time Kate spends with Drake and the girls, the more difficult it becomes to hide her attraction to him. But a family crisis isn’t exactly the ideal time to pursue a romance.

Meanwhile, Kate learns that her uncle—in prison for murder—has escaped. Add to that a local stalker who won’t leave her alone, and Kate is looking over her shoulder at every turn. With threats swirling from multiple directions, she wonders if her blueberry fields will ever flourish again . . . or if this twilight is her last.

Set on the beautiful coast of Maine, Twilight at Blueberry Barrens brings together suspense, romance, and the hope that one day new life will come again.

Jasper is obviously shocked when a different woman shows up off the stagecoach but over time is pleasantly surprised. Bessie is full of spunk, determination, and love as she tries to get use to the west and the shocking day to day events that are very different from her upbringing.

This story was fun to read, well written, and is a clean dramatic romance set in the west. I loved it!!

Book Description
Bessie Randall had no intention of moving to Wyoming. But could the life she would never choose be better than the one she had planned?

Bessie is shocked when she finds out that her sister Lenore has used her name to correspond with a soldier she’s never met—and that she’s actually married the man by proxy with Bessie’s name. And if Bessie contests it, her sister could go to jail for forgery. Bessie has always felt responsible for her younger sister, and she believes she has no choice but to do the honorable thing and travel west to meet up with Jasper Mendenhall.

With his sister Jessica’s reprimand about marrying sight-unseen still ringing in his ears, Jasper is shocked when he meets the stagecoach. The little wren who meets him is not the beauty whose picture he holds in his hand. Jasper plans to annul the marriage and send Bessie back to Boston. She’s a city girl and he’s not sure she could even survive—much less be happy—at Fort Bowie.

But Jasper’s orders to return to Fort Bowie are moved up, and he has no choice but to take Bessie with him. To his surprise, he finds much to like in the quiet young woman: things like humor and grit. But even those qualities may not be enough as the Apaches move in, determined to eradicate the fort in their midst. Can God mend their hearts together in spite of the circumstances?
