“Critical Consequences” by Clair M. Poulson REVIEW

“Critical Consequences” by Clair M. Poulson

WOW-what a heart stopping, thrilling book!

Coast Guard Mike finds himself thrown into the world of drugs, kidnapping and murder after he gets a call from his estranged brother Eli that he needs help. From then moment on, Mike is on a nonstop chase to find his brother’s killer, as well as figure out who is now trying to kill him. So many little stories all combined into one with several characters, so it does get complicated at times but I still really enjoyed it!

I have read several books by this author and I really get involved and enjoy reading his clean suspense stories. You won’t want to miss this non stop action story! I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
As a member of the coast guard, Mike Weaver is guided by a single objective: to locate and protect those in need. So when his cousin Martie and her new husband disappear, Mike has no doubt that he possesses the skills necessary to find answers. What he doesn’t anticipate is that the truth he seeks is buried deep within a tangled network of greed and deceit.

When Mike’s past violently collides with his investigation, he is forced to accept help from virtual strangers—Angelia and her family anticipated a quiet family picnic in the mountains, but when they encounter a wounded Mike, Angelia and her father, with his military background, spring into action. When they discover that Mike’s search for his cousin has a surprising connection to their family, they join his dangerous hunt for answers. Search and rescue is in Mike’s blood, and with the help of his unconventional team of investigators, he’ll stop at nothing to bring his cousin home safely.

MY REVIEW

Wow!! I almost didn’t finish this book because it was alot more graphic than I thought a Christian suspense story should and would be. Thankfully, this story didn’t include the killers point of view though.

Kenna escapes from the hands of a serial killer only to be dragged back into the FBI world after 2 years. She still faces traumatic memories of her injuries, being tortured and what happened that tragic night.

As readers we follow her PI journey of discovering  multiple murders all throughout this story; so all the death, torture, blood and loss was giving me major anxiety and was very upsetting.  Like I said, it was alot more detailed than I thought a Christian book would include. Lots of triggers and emotions in this book.

I kept reading because I wanted to see if anything would develop between Kenna and Jax and if they would catch the killer. Lots of drama of cat and mouse with many twists and turns. Be prepared for this to be a hard, emotional read; but once you start reading, you won’t want to stop this thrilling story!

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

MY REVIEW

I really enjoyed this book! It was probably one of my favorites so far and I’ve read alot of her books.

Mellie, son Alfie, Ryan and Betty were the main characters and I loved getting to know each one and their personalities and struggles. Ryan was one of Betty and Wayne’s foster kids who had an extremely difficult childhood. Living on the Island with them changed him and made him into a successful scientist and man. Ryan struggles with feelings of self worth and belonging throughout the book but comes to realize that family and love can help heal him. Mellie and son Alfie become a big part of Ryan’s life and I liked seeing their relationship develop over the story. Betty is struggling as a new widow and finding her place in the world with finding a new normal and navigating thru her grief.

All of the characters were relatable with daily struggles and I liked how they worked together as family, neighbors, and friends to serve and help each other. Great characters, easy to read story line with clean romance and drama. Highly recommend this fun Hometown Brothers read!

I hope her future books will include Betty, Charlie, Cody and Luis because I’m not ready to say goodbye to those characters included in this story.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

Deception (Natchez Trace Park Rangers Book #4) by Patricia Bradley

Deception (Natchez Trace Park Rangers Book #4) by Patricia Bradley

Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, it did! Lots of drama, suspense and twists and turns in this book. I enjoyed reading every chapter from beginning to end!

ISB ranger Madison wasn’t my favorite character because she was constantly running away from her feelings and avoiding talking or confronting people which really annoyed me. But she acknowledged she did that because of growing up with a bi-polar mother and tried to do better. Clayton and Madison worked well together to find out why her grandfather was attacked and in doing so, opened up to a bunch of skeletons in the closet. Who was a friend? Who wasn’t?

Letting go of grief, addictions, anger, forgiveness, and having faith in God were all themes in this book. The author did a great job of weaving in the suspense and having relatable characters with different problems all throughout the story. I really enjoyed it! Although it’s book 4 in the Park Rangers series, they can be read as stand alone novels.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
After being forced to kill an FBI agent gone rogue in self-defense while working in the violent crimes unit for the Investigative Services Branch, ranger Madison Thorn is comfortable with her move to the fraud and cyber division. At least numbers don’t lie. So she’s less than thrilled when a white-collar crime investigation in Natchez, Mississippi, turns violent. She could also do without being forced to work with former-childhood-enemy-turned-infuriatingly-handsome park ranger Clayton Bradshaw.

When a woman who looks just like Madison is attacked on the same night Madison’s grandfather is shot, it becomes clear that there is something much bigger going on here and that Madison herself is in danger. Madison and Clayton will have to work together–and suppress their growing feelings for one another–if they are to discover the truth before it’s too late.

USA Today bestselling and award-winning author Patricia Bradley closes out her popular Natchez Trace Park Rangers series with this complex story of family secrets, mixed motives, and learning to trust.
