Day 6 challenge here:

http://www.triciagoyer.com/simple-makeup-for-busy-moms/

What are you favorite makeup tips?

Let me start off by saying that I have VERY sensitive acne prone skin and have since my early teens. I am 31 and still have the same issues-not as severe though. I have learned over the years that I can not buy makeup or skin care at Walmart or Target type places because I break out or itch like CRAZY!! So, after years of experimenting I have finally found products that work for me and that I LOVE! Thankfully I have the money to invest in good products because nice skincare and makeup are not cheap, but I always shop with coupons and wait for deals.

My face wash that I use is either Bare Minerals Facial Cleanser or Murad Clarifying Cleanser. I mostly use Murad every day and my face stays so much clearer and cleaner.

If you can invest in a Clarisonic then definitely DO IT!! It is THE BEST tool to deep clean with your face wash. My face feels AMAZING after using it!! My hubby loves to use it too and noticed a difference.
I waited and saved for quite awhile before buying this at a special price on QVC.

This is THE BEST lotion for dry and/or acne prone skin. I use it every day-sometimes two times a day. It feels great, not greasy, no weird smell.

I use to use BareMinerals foundation, but then it started to make me itch so a couple years ago I switched to Mally Beauty Powder foundation. I have never looked back. I love how it feels, how it looks and I haven’t had any skin problems with using it.

I love Chapstick and Carmex. Great for dry chapped lips! I also love Bare Escentuals lipgloss and lipstick and Mally Beauty Lipgloss.

Most days I just do moisturizer, foundation and chapstick because I’m in a hurry to get to work. I love to wear makeup and have alot and I’m trying to get better with making more efforts with my face.

If I want to add some color to my eyes quickly, I use Mally Beauty Eye Shadow stick. Its so fast to apply, blend with my finger and ta da! It stays on for HOURS! seriously! I can apply it in the morning and it will not budge or crease all day up until bedtime. It has the power of an eye primer and eye shadow in one.

I love Bare Escentuals palettes. It makes it super easy to throw in my purse and have all the products I need. This particular one is my favorite. It has room for blush, 4 eye colors, lip gloss, eye liner and eye primer. The brushes are cheap so I use another brush to apply.

Speaking of eye primer… I discovered this baby years ago and I’m so glad I did!! I hate face primer because it makes my face feel greasy, so I was hesitant to try this. I will never NOT use it again!! In fact, if I don’t have my eyelid primer I won’t even bother applying eye makeup because it never stays on long. This keeps my color all day-like 24 hour long-without smudging or creasing.

My favorite two mascaras ever!! Mally Beauty Volumizing and Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition Mascara. I have tried all kinds of other mascaras and in my opinion these are the best!

I know I probably sound like a sales woman but I get very passionate about products that I love because I’m very picky and I try alot of things to see what works for me.

I would love to hear what makeup tips you have and what products you like to use on a daily basis.

Day 5 challenge here:

http://www.triciagoyer.com/take-time-for-friends-no-more-frumpy-mommy-moms-night-out-challenge-day-5/

How do you make time for friends?

I don’t have alot of free time to spend with friends, because what little time I have after working full time, blogging, scrapbooking, reading, exercising; is spent with my family-specifically my kids. I use my weekends running around doing fun activities with my boys, doing errands and housework.

I keep up with some of my friends online and I try to be involved with as many women church activities as I can. I’m involved with alot of blogging groups and book clubs, so I feel like I’m involved with some friendships that way. My husband works at night and we only have one car, so it limits how much I can do in the evenings. I also try to do parties and get togethers (like exercising or crafting) at my house, but not alot of people show up because of their own busy lives. Right now, I’m content to just spend my extra time with my family knowing that as they get older my time with them will be less-more get togethers with friends can come later.

Are you involved with any clubs or mommy groups?  Do you like to stay home with your family inside of going out, like me?

Day 4 challenge here:

http://www.triciagoyer.com/how-to-exercise-with-kids/

What is your favorite way to exercise with kids?

We are very active as a family. My two boys love to play in our background and swing set; help with gardening; play basketball and baseball; take family walks; family bike rides; do workout dvds with me or my husband (like P90x and Leslie Sansone walking dvds); jump on the mini trampoline; dance parties in the basement…

Here are some pictures from the last month or two of activities.

Playing “volleyball” over the clothes line…they had so much fun!

Doing yard work-we are currently trying to build a fence for our new garden.
Playing basetball in the rain.
Playing baseball.
Swim lessons.
Leslie Sansone walking exercise dvd.
Jumping on the mini exercise trampoline. Got this at walmart for around $30!
Doing more yard work!
Swinging and playing on the swing set.
Playing at the park.
Helping reseed the grass and working on the garden…watering is serious business-safety first! LOL
Talking walks at the local park on the track.
Flying kits.
Playing putt putt golf.
Playing basketball with a 12 year old is a serious workout.

I’ve even been known to do yoga in the back yard!

Roasting marshmallows and having a campfire. This may look like its easy, but starting a fire and gathering up sticks to burn is a workout and gets the kids involved.

Anything can be a fun workout-all you have to do if find creative ways to MOVE MORE!

What do you like to do with your kids to move more?

The Fortune Cafe-A Tangerine Street Romance (A Novel in 3 parts) book review by Julie Wright, Melanie Jacobson and Heather Moore

I received a copy of The Fortune Cafe in exchange for a blog book review. All opinions are my own.

This was SUCH a fun book to read!!
I loved how all three stories were separate but intertwined together off and on because of The Fortune Cafe being a meeting spot for the main characters. I loved all three stories, but the first one was my most favorite. Good, clean womens fiction. Fast reading, romantic and fun! I can’t wait to read the next Tangerine Street Romance Novel coming soon! (Boardwalk Antiques Shop) This idea of a central location/novel in 3 parts is a fantastic idea!! Written by Julie Wright, Melanie Jacobson and Heather Moore.

Book Description from Amazon.com

Publication Date: March 13, 2014
The Fortune Café
A Tangerine Street Romance
(a novel in three parts)

Welcome to Tangerine Street

Tangerine Street is a must-see tourist stop with a colorful mix of one-of-a-kind boutiques, unique restaurants, eclectic museums, quaint bookstores, and exclusive bed-and-breakfasts. The Fortune Café, situated in the middle of this charming collection of shops and cafés on Tangerine Street, is a Chinese restaurant unlike any other because, well, to be honest, the fortunes found in the cookies all come true…

MIS-FORTUNE: Emma, a waitress at The Fortune Café will do anything to avoid opening a fortune cookie. Each fortune is rumored to somehow magically come true. Being a girl grounded in reality, she doesn’t have time for that kind of nonsense. But when trying to prevent a food fight at the café, Emma accidentally cracks open a fortune cookie: “Look around, love is trying to catch you.” If there is one thing that Harrison, her former best friend in high school is good at, it’s catching her unaware.

LOVE, NOT LUCK: Lucy has always been lucky . . . until her parents meet her fiancé’s parents at a disastrous lunch at The Fortune Café, and she breaks her lucky jade necklace. Even worse, her fortune cookie reveals that “True love is for the brave, not the lucky.” How is she supposed to read that? She’s always considered it lucky how she met her fiancé. But after breaking her necklace, Lucy’s luck takes a dive. And when her fiancé dumps her, the only person she can turn to is Carter, the unluckiest guy she knows.

TAKEOUT: Stella is content in her new life of taking over her mom’s jewelry shop. No more boyfriend to worry about, and as long as she stays busy, she doesn’t have to dwell on her non-existent love life. When Evan comes into the shop with his young daughter, Stella is charmed. But she is reluctant to complicate her straightforward life, so when she reads her fortune after ordering takeout from The Fortune Café, she completely ignores it. After all, how can a fortune as vague as “Do the thing you fear and love is certain,” apply to her?

Day 3 challenge here:

http://www.triciagoyer.com/kid-friendly-recipe/

What’s your go-to easy recipe?

To be honest, my husband is the one who does most of the cooking in our house. like 99% of it! Our kids do awesome with eating everything that we eat-including all their veggies and fruits so we’ve never had to bribe them or disguise the food to get them to eat.

Some of our go-to snacks that we pack for church or traveling would be cheese sticks; fruit like bananas, grapes and apples; whole grain snack crackers with cheese or peanut butter; goldfish, lots of water bottles; Luna and Kind bars for me!

What are some snacks that you like?
