A Christmas in the Alps: A Christmas Novella by Melody Carlson

It was interesting to read this book about Simone finding a letter from her French great grandmother and then traveling to France to find her long lost treasure. What a cool experience! I enjoyed getting to know Kyle the clockmaker and how their lives intertwined once they both reached Paris.

I did not particularly like the whole treasure hunt theme throughout the book because Simone came across as selfish and impatient. I liked the short story but its not something I would read again. I was hoping for a more fun, heartwarming Christmas story.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
After a time of heartache and loss, Simone Winthrop discovers a tantalizing letter from her French great-grandmother, which seems to suggest that she is heir to a family treasure. Ever practical, Simone assumes the claim is baseless, but her best friend encourages her to find out for sure. Despite her deep-rooted fear of flying, Simone boards a jet to travel to Paris at Christmastime to uncover the truth.

During the long flight, Simone meets the charming Kyle Larsson, who’s on his way to France to become an apprentice clockmaker. Though they abruptly part ways, an unexpected rendezvous in the French Alps at Simone’s family’s clock factory may lead to the discovery of the family treasure . . . and so much more.

For anyone who is wearying of staying home, Melody Carlson invites you to spend Christmas with her in the beautiful French Alps this year. So pull on your mittens, tie your scarf tight, and prepare yourself for a magical mountain holiday.

MY REVIEW

I don’t think my heart can handle much more of this series! LOL Every time Stone goes back in time to try to solve cold cases and fix his mistakes, more tragic things happen. Poor guy can’t catch a break it seems.

I highly recommend reading these books in order! If you enjoy time travel drama, you will love this series! and even if you don’t usually read time travel (I don’t), then give this series a try anyway. I have read all of them so far and have really enjoyed them!

Once I get start reading the ebook I don’t like to stop until I’m done. I like that most of the characters are the same throughout each book and sometimes we read things from Stone or Eve’s point of view. Highly recommend this series!

“Redemption” by Traci Hunter Abramson

The story was absolutely intriguing and thrilling from beginning to end. I loved reading about the different characters from previous Saints Squad books. If you have not read any other books in this series I highly recommend them, but they can all be read as standalone stories.

I truly could not believe the change in Gage and how he was able to redeem himself and turn his life around. I liked getting to know the other main character Skyler and how she helped the Academy and Saint Squad in various ways. I liked seeing her and Gage’s friendship blossom as they worked together. I also liked briefly reading about Senator James Whitmore who is also mentioned in previous books. I hope there will be more books in the series so we can read more about these characters and Senator Whitmore.

This story had lots of drama, clean romance and suspense. I truly can’t say enough good things about this series… Once you start reading you won’t want to stop. I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Gage Stewart has spent five years trying to overcome his past. Once an abused and troubled teenager, he has worked tirelessly to move beyond the fateful day he was manipulated into holding a group of teenagers hostage. Now, with a new identity and a college degree in criminal psychology, he accepts an unlikely job teaching others what to do during mass shootings.

At the hotel where his class is held, Gage is immediately drawn to Skyler Prescott, the daughter of the wealthy hotel owner. Gage and Skyler quickly discover a shared desire for normalcy, and their easy friendship soon develops into something more. But after a night out ends in horror when a gunman opens fire in the crowded venue, they make an alarming discovery that threatens more than their relationship. The attack was little more than a publicity stunt to draw out the real target: presidential candidate Senator James Whitmore. Unwilling to become someone’s scapegoat, Gage must now work in tandem with the very men who ended his own life of crime before it began—the Saint Squad.
