“Labyrinth of Lies” by Irene Hannon

“Labyrinth of Lies” by Irene Hannon

I have read several books by this author and enjoy her writing with her clean suspense, on the edge of my seat stories.

Lots of twists and turns throughout this story as Cate and Zeke work together undercover to undercover the danger lurking at the Academy. I really liked the characters and the flow of the story and was surprised with some of the story elements. If you like clean mystery and suspense, you will love this book! Highly recommend any books by this author!

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
When the daughter of a high-profile businessman disappears from an exclusive girls’ boarding school, police detective Cate Reilly is tapped for an undercover assignment. It doesn’t take her long to realize that beneath the veneer of polish and wealth, things are not as they seem at Ivy Hill Academy. But the biggest surprise of all? The only man she ever loved is also working at the school.

Zeke Sloan has never forgotten Cate, but now isn’t the best time for their paths to cross again. When their two seemingly disparate agendas begin to intertwine–and startling connections emerge among the players–the danger escalates significantly. But who is the mastermind behind the elaborate ruse? And how far will they go to protect their house of cards?

Queen of romantic suspense Irene Hannon invites you to scale the heights of human folly and plumb the depths of the human heart in this second gripping book in the Triple Threat series.

View Most Glorious (American Wonders Collection) by Regina Scott

View Most Glorious (American Wonders Collection) by Regina Scott

I have read the other 2 books in this American Wonders Collection and have absolutely loved them! The author does a wonderful job describing the scenery which is just as majestic and beautiful as the covers of these books.

This story follows Coraline and her hiking adventure to raise awareness for her women’s group. Her stepfather was determined to find her a proper guide so she could be successful in her hike and not have to marry the man Coraline’s mother picked for her.

As Coraline and her guide Nathan start their wilderness hike; they both discover they are both determined, kind, hard working and of good character. Full of faith and perseverance they both turn to God during their adventure and to each other. The characters and setting of this book were enjoyable to read. Highly recommend this historical fiction book and series. They can be read as stand alone books.

About the Book:
Reluctant socialite Coraline Baxter longs to live a life of significance and leave her mark on the world. When her local suffragette group asks her to climb Mount Rainier to raise awareness of their cause, she jumps at the chance, even though she has absolutely no climbing experience. If she can do it, any woman can do it. And after her mother issues an ultimatum–that Cora marry the man of her mother’s choosing if she is not successful–Cora must do it. But she can’t do it alone.

Noted mountain guide Nathan Hardee initially refuses to help Cora, but has a change of heart when he sees what is at stake. He knows enough about the man Cora’s mother has chosen to know that the headstrong young woman should have nothing to do with him, much less marry him.

Climbing Rainier will require all of Cora’s fortitude and will lead her and Nathan to rediscover their faith in God and humanity. These two loners make unlikely partners in righting a wrong and may just discover that only together is the view most glorious.

MY REVIEW

I really enjoyed this story!

I loved the main characters Kayla, Tony and Jax and how they worked together at the preschool to help Jax overcome his trauma and grief over his moms death.

Lots of great town characters that I’ve read in other books so it was fun to see them return. Both Kayla and Tony learn the importance of love, forgiveness, grief and trials; and that they can start to heal and overcome with the help of family, friends and pets.

Easy to read holiday story that I enjoyed from beginning to end. This was one of my favorite ones from this series so far, but each book can be read as a standalone book.

A Christmas in the Alps: A Christmas Novella by Melody Carlson

A Christmas in the Alps: A Christmas Novella by Melody Carlson

It was interesting to read this book about Simone finding a letter from her French great grandmother and then traveling to France to find her long lost treasure. What a cool experience! I enjoyed getting to know Kyle the clockmaker and how their lives intertwined once they both reached Paris.

I did not particularly like the whole treasure hunt theme throughout the book because Simone came across as selfish and impatient. I liked the short story but its not something I would read again. I was hoping for a more fun, heartwarming Christmas story.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
After a time of heartache and loss, Simone Winthrop discovers a tantalizing letter from her French great-grandmother, which seems to suggest that she is heir to a family treasure. Ever practical, Simone assumes the claim is baseless, but her best friend encourages her to find out for sure. Despite her deep-rooted fear of flying, Simone boards a jet to travel to Paris at Christmastime to uncover the truth.

During the long flight, Simone meets the charming Kyle Larsson, who’s on his way to France to become an apprentice clockmaker. Though they abruptly part ways, an unexpected rendezvous in the French Alps at Simone’s family’s clock factory may lead to the discovery of the family treasure . . . and so much more.

For anyone who is wearying of staying home, Melody Carlson invites you to spend Christmas with her in the beautiful French Alps this year. So pull on your mittens, tie your scarf tight, and prepare yourself for a magical mountain holiday.

MY REVIEW

I don’t think my heart can handle much more of this series! LOL Every time Stone goes back in time to try to solve cold cases and fix his mistakes, more tragic things happen. Poor guy can’t catch a break it seems.

I highly recommend reading these books in order! If you enjoy time travel drama, you will love this series! and even if you don’t usually read time travel (I don’t), then give this series a try anyway. I have read all of them so far and have really enjoyed them!

Once I get start reading the ebook I don’t like to stop until I’m done. I like that most of the characters are the same throughout each book and sometimes we read things from Stone or Eve’s point of view. Highly recommend this series!
