This time of year is one of the toughest times to stay active. We are all so busy with work, family, shopping, holiday activities… It can be hard to find the time to eat healthy and exercise.
And before you know it the holidays will be over, then winter and the cold weather will be over, and it will be SPRING!! Which unfortunately will be too late to race train for alot of people. Spring and Fall are the busiest times for races so don’t let race deadlines sneak up on you and leave you feeling unprepared.
This spring I will be participating in the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon-America’s Toughest Road Marathon! I will actually be running the 10k race which will be on April 22, 2017. Did you know the Blue Ridge Marathon has THE MOST elevation change of any road race in the United States?? This is how it gets it’s “toughest” road marathon status. (gulp!)
To prepare for this upcoming tough road race in the spring; I will be participating in a free, online challenge by Runners World called “39 days of Awesome Run Streak”. The challenge is to run one mile every day for 39 days-from Thanksgiving Day thru New Years Day.
Participating in this challenge-indoors or outdoors-will keep me active and ready to go for longer running in the early spring.
I love participating in free challenges like this because it keeps me accountable to others and keeps me focused on my goals.
