30 days until #RunBlueRidge #brm26pt2 race day & how I’m training

It’s 30 days until RACE DAY! Are you excited? I know I am!

Last Saturday I went up Mill Mountain with 2 of my girlfriends to practice for race day. We had no expectations for speed or time-we just wanted to go thru the motions of going up and back down the mountain.

It was SOOOOO cold! I am not use to training in 30 degree weather with snow on the ground. Unfortunately there was ice, snow and leaves going back DOWN the mountain (the back way, service road) so we had to walk slowly instead of running down like we usually do.

We finished in 2 hours which is what I had expected honestly. On race day I typically finish the 10k in 1.5 hours.

For food fuel (before and during):
✨nuun energy tablet with water (before)
✨GF rice cakes with PB and banana (before)
✨large water bottle with nuun hydration tablet (during)
✨honey stinger glutenfree waffle (right before)
✨honey stinger energy chews (during)
…lots of energy and no soreness! It really makes a difference when I eat and hydrate properly!

How is your training going? Are you having weird weather like we are in VA? I’m hoping to get outside more for training so crossing my fingers it gets warmer.

The Blue Ridge Marathon Series was created by a non-profit known as Roanoke Outside Foundation whose mission is to make outdoor activity and environmental stewardship a core component of our region’s lifestyle by promoting a “conservation through recreation”
philosophy. All proceeds of the Blue Ridge Marathon go toward our main beneficiaries the Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway or other local charitable organizations.

The Blue Ridge Marathon has THE MOST elevation change of any road race in the United States. This is how it gets it’s “toughest” road marathon status.
