“Present Danger” by Elizabeth Goddard

This is book 1 of the brand new series called “Rocky Mountain Courage”. I have read many books by this author so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this new book and start a new series!

I enjoyed being taken into the world of artifacts and learning about the history and unfortunately the world of smuggling rare and lost historical pieces. Terra and and Jack were great characters and worked well together as they begin to investigate a murder in the national forest which leads them down a dark road.

Lots of suspense, drama, and adventure with twists and turns. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next book!

MY REVIEW

I have read several books by this author now and each one keeps getting better and better. I loved this story and especially the main characters Molly and Drew. I could totally relate to Molly in so many ways with her trying to balance work and family as a single mother, making her family a priority, and fighting for whats right.

Both were very likeable, relatable people which is rare for lawyers in my opinion. (I worked along side many different attorneys for years as a paralegal so I don’t have a high opinion of them anymore.) It was nice to see their work side and personal side through out the story.

I also liked reading about Drew’s family and their day to day city life. This story was fun to read, interesting plot with some drama and clean romance that kept my interest from beginning to end. I really, really enjoyed it!

MY REVIEW

Book 1 ended with such a cliff hanger that I was counting down the weeks before I could read book 2. I highly recommend you read these books in order! There will be 6 total books in this time travel suspense series.

At the end of book 1 Detective Stone has returned to his present time, only to find out that  tragedy has touched his family and his life in ways he never imagined. Little did he know that changing the past would alter his future in that way.

The Detective is constantly haunted by cold cases and what he wished he could change; as well as his new regrets with changing the past which then changed this present life. He also struggles as to why his co worker gave him the time travel watch, which we find out more later in the story.  I really liked the Detective and also getting to know his wife Eve more in this second story.

I don’t typically read time travel books but because one of my favorite authors-Susan May Warren helped write these books-I know I needed to at least try them. I was hooked from the very beginning and can’t wait to continue reading this clean, suspenseful series! You won’t regret reading it!

MY REVIEW

I love reading a variety of Love Inspired Suspense books and have for years. I don’t typically read Amish fiction but decided to give this one a try.

I liked the main characters Faith and Eli, but I didn’t find the plot suspenseful or really even believable. For example, Faith is running from her brother in law who is a police officer and who has killed others; but yet she manages to escape him time after time even though she isn’t hiding very well or even protecting herself. It did not seem realistic to me at all.

Because of this I had a hard time getting into the story and enjoying it.

If you have read other books by this author or other Amish books, than you may like this even though I didn’t care for it.
