Colleen Coble’s Melt into Summer Giveaway and ‘A Heart’s Betrayal’ book review

515ympFQujL

I have become a huge fan of Colleen Coble when I discovered her books last year. I love that her books are clean and most of them are very suspenseful and mysterious.

“A Heart’s Betrayal” is book four of six in the Journey of the Heart series. These books were the first series author Colleen Coble ever wrote, and writing was how she dealt with her brothers sudden death. These books haven’t been in print form in over 10 years. They were originally titled “Where Leads the Heart” and “Plains of Promise”.

I don’t think they would make much sense if they aren’t read together AND in order. I wouldn’t consider this Colleen Coble’s typical writing since it’s not suspenseful, but it’s still been a good series to read. Don’t read the book description though, because it pretty much gives a recap of the entire book.

Unlike books 1-3, this story follows Emmie Croftner (sister of jealous ex fiancee, crazy Ben) instead of Sarah and Rand. Emmie thinks she’s found her “happily ever after” until her husband dies suddenly in an accident and she discovers he’s not who he said he was. Betrayed and humiliated, she decides to travel to Wyoming to stay with Sarah and Rand. She meets a nice family friend, Isaac, but she’s determined to never trust a man with her heart again.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from LitFuse Publicity in exchange for an honest review on my blog and social media-all opinions are my own.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Emmie finds shelter in the arms of a soldier, but her secret could drive them apart.

When Emmie Croftner answered the door to her late husband’s home, she discovered an awful truth: her deceased husband was a bigamist. And what’s more, the home she thought she inherited never belonged to her at all.

Suddenly displaced, powerless, and ashamed, Emmie can’t stay in Wabash, Indiana. She makes a hopeful start for Fort Laramie, Wyoming, to find her friend Sarah Montgomery and a new beginning. But when she arrives, she discovers she’s pregnant—and without a husband. The new start she’d hoped for slips from her fingers.

But then she meets Isaac Liddle, a handsome soldier with a kind heart. When he begins to court her, Emmie wonders whether she could ever really be his—and whether she dares to tell him she is carrying another man’s baby.

“Attractive Nuisance” by Jennifer Griffith

Attractive Nuisance: Legally in Love Book 1 (kindle edition) by Jennifer Griffith

download

This was a cute story about fellow attorney Camilla and Zane both working on a criminal case together. Camilla thinks Zane is totally cute but wants to stay focused on her work and career without any romantic distractions. Zane is determined to win her over by working along side her in the court room and providing her meals at work.

I felt like Camilla was a little dramatic and immature at times, but she’s still in her 20s, so some readers won’t be able to relate to that. Overall it was a clean, romantic story that made me laugh!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review on my blog and social media-all opinions are my own.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Camilla Sweeten is serious about her job in the County Attorney’s office. She’s even working up the courage to ask her boss to consider her for promotion to deputy.

Then, into court walks the gorgeous Zane Holyoake, and disaster strikes—in the form of a total brain fog right in the middle of her closing arguments. In front of both her boss and the meanest bear of a judge in the county, Camilla hears herself saying, “Like, I totally made my point,” as though she’d flown in from1980s California in a time machine airplane.

Now her boss will never consider her for deputy—especially since Zane turns out to be a new lawyer, possibly brought in to steal her dream job.

But when a notorious criminal is caught in their county, Camilla must focus on getting the thief convicted and not on Zane, who smells heavenly and is bent on distracting her with lunch offers and wacky Boy Scout stories that may melt her many resolves.

It’s going to take incredible willpower to ignore this attractive nuisance.

Attractive Nuisance is the first book in the Legally in Love Series by best-selling romantic comedy author Jennifer Griffith.

Fatal Trauma Paperback – May book release
by Richard L. Mabry

Doesn’t this book cover look mysterious and dramatic? I have never read a medical mystery so I was very intrigued to read this book by Richard Mabry, MD.

The story follows 2 main characters-Dr. Mark and Nurse Kelly who both work at the same hospital. Chapter 1 starts right off with a trauma victim and shooting at the hospital. Mark and Kelly have to work together inside and outside the hospital to stay alive after they learn someone wants revenge for the hospital shooting. They learn to rely on their faith in God and close friends as they try to find the shooter before the next victim.

Fast paced book-kept me guessing the whole time and on the edge of my seat! Some romance-clean, christian fiction. I would definitely recommend!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from LitFuse Publicity in exchange for an honest review on my blog and social media-all opinions are my own.

About the book:
A gunman who has nothing to lose faces a doctor who could lose it all to prove his innocence.

When Dr. Mark Baker and Nurse Kelly Atkinson are held at the mercy of a dangerous gunman, the lives of every emergency room patient are at stake. At the end of the evening three men are dead. One of them is a police officer who couldn’t be saved despite Mark’s best efforts. The other two are members of the feared Zeta drug cartel.

Though the standoff is over, the killing is not, because when the drug cartel loses its members, revenge is not far behind. Facing an adversary whose desires are dark and efforts are ruthless, Mark finds himself under suspicion as a killer, yet still a potential victim. When he turns to his high school sweetheart, attorney Gwen Woodruff, for help, Kelly helplessly looks on, as she hides her own feelings for the good doctor.

At the height of the conflict, three questions remain: Who is the shooter? Who will the next victim be? And can Mark prove his innocence before the gun turns on him?

“Once Upon a Summertime” by Melody Carlson

Once Upon a Summertime (Follow Your Heart Book #1): A New York City Romance
By: Melody Carlson

51gykA1+NzL

I have never read anything by this author, but I enjoyed reading this light, romantic book. The story follows Anna who moves away from her very small town to take a job in New York City managing a new hotel- a dream come true! She happens to run into a former crush and childhood friend while on her first day of the job and sparks seem to fly right away between them. However, neither of them can be in a relationship with each other and still keep their current job!

I liked Anna’s work ethic and determination to keep focused and to take pride in her job. I loved reading about Anna’s and Sean’s dates and how they got along. I really enjoyed the book until the last chapter and then felt like it was ridiculously rushed and totally unrealistic. I still liked it though.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Books, a division of of Baker Publishing Group, in exchange for an honest review on my blog and social media-all opinions are my own.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
She’s looking for her big break. She never imagined it would depend on a blast from her past.
