My almost 5 year old son is a HUGE fan of Berenstain Bears books and was thrilled when this book came in the mail this weekend! We both love that the newer books come with stickers, which makes them even more fun. This newest book “God Bless Our Country” is written by MIKE Berenstain (son of Stan and Jan) who puts a more christian spin on his books. I love that! They still have the same great lessons and morals, but they also mention God and may quote a scripture or two.

This book is fantastic with explaining about our Country’s “birthday” and the purpose of the 4th of July. At the end of the book are some questions you can ask your child and two activities. My son was able to answer the first 2 questions without help, so he did learn something from this book! I’ve already told several people because I’m impressed with Mike’s books and the direction he’s taking the new Berenstain Bears books. Highly recommend!

Last month I found a new workout program on amazon called EVOLUTION20 that sounded really good! I purchased it and because of my amazon prime, I got it 2 days later and immediately started it the last week of March.

On day 1, I did Foundation, which is a pilates style workout.

On day 2 I did Endurance.

This program comes with 2 dvds and a fitness nutrition guide. The guide has a 8 week calendar, 8 week meal plan, and recipes.

These workouts are only 20-21 minutes (including warm up and cool down) so they are great for when you are short on time, or want to do multiple workouts that day. You don’t need any equipment for these dvds, except maybe a yoga mat.

Christine works out with 2 other people-one of them showing modifications and the other one showing more intense moves.

I love how clear Christine is with explaining each upcoming exercise move, along with being motivating and enthusiastic. I really like her personality and teaching style!

I would say this workout program (at least disc 1) is for intermediate level. It is intense because you use your own body weight and I love that Christine goes slow enough so I can keep up with her without feeling like I’m going too fast or injure myself. She says in the workouts that you can always go faster or slower than she does. I found that by going a little slow, the exercises are more “purposeful” and I feel great after the workout. I hate fast, frantic, extreme workouts!

I would consider this workout program to be “family friendly” meaning, she doesn’t cuss or wear revealing workout clothes which I really appreciate.

I have truly loved all the workouts that I’ve done so far and can’t wait to continue with the program. I would definitely recommend this workout and I’m so glad I bought it!

Series: A Mia Quinn Mystery

WOW I could not put this book down! At first I had a hard time distinguishing between some of the characters because they were Chinese names, but it got easier to tell them apart as the book progressed. This story was high paced, riveting, tragic and intense. I really like the main character Mia which makes me want to read other books in her series. I think she is a wonderful attorney in this story, however, I think she doesn’t spend enough time at home with her kids. The book ended well even though it wasn’t your typical “happy ending”.

I don’t know if I could consider it a clean fiction-there wasn’t any bad language, but it deals with adult themes like drugs, prostitution and slavery. I was not aware that issues like that still happened in our culture today.

If you are looking for something intriguing and intense, this book would be great for you! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
